I have been coming here for a long time, and this place never disappoints me. Me and my mom come here for brunch a lot, and the foods always come fresh!! I usually eat fritata, buna (coffee) and tiramisu, and we always buy cake for occasions at this place!

The best cake ever!! My dad use to always tell me when he was a kid how he loved going to BELAY TEKLU PASTRY SHOP in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I am glad to learn that the family tradition is brought to my neighborhood in DFW (City Cafe is owned by Tes Belay, the son of the legendary Belay Teklu)! Yummy! My kids are addicted to this place!!

They certainly have the best pastries in or around Dallas area. They also offer authentic East African cuisine with highly reasonable pricing and excellent customer servicing. Great place for a quick yet delicious bite.

- Fahim

Best-kept-secret coffee spot in Dallas! Very friendly staff, intimate atmosphere, and great Ethiopian food too. If you're looking for a special treat, try the tiramisu.

The Legacy Continues

Our journey began in 1959, when the Belay family opened Belay Teklu Pastry in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Known for its fresh-baked goods and warm atmosphere, the shop quickly became a local favorite and a place where neighbors gathered over pastries, buna (coffee), and conversation.

Today, City Café & Bakery in Dallas proudly continues that legacy. We serve traditional Eritrean and Ethiopian breakfast, coffee, and pastries made fresh every day using the same family recipes passed down through generations. It’s more than food, it’s heritage, served with heart.
